LUSTING FOR COVERS ~ THE WARRIOR BY VICTORIA SCOTT

Lusting for Covers is a weekly meme, held on Sunday, that allows bloggers to share their current cover obsession with fellow book lovers.

Once you are ready to join the fun,

please fill out Mister Linky over at TBQ's blog with

your name/blog name and the direct

link to your Lusting for Covers for this

week!

Here is my candidate for the week:

War between heaven and hell is coming, but Dante Walker makes it look damn good.

Dante’s girlfriend, Charlie, is fated to save the world. And Aspen, the girl who feels like a sister, is an ordained soldier. In order to help both fulfill their destiny and win the war, Dante must complete liberator training at the Hive, rescue Aspen from hell, and uncover a message hidden on an ancient scroll.

Dante is built for battle, but even he can’t handle the nightmares where spiders crawl from Aspen’s eyes, or the look on Charlie’s face that foretells of devastation. To make matters worse, the enemy seizes every opportunity to break inside the Hive and cripple the liberators. But the day of reckoning is fast approaching, and to stand victorious, Dante will have to embrace something inside himself he never has before—faith.

Why I chose it:

TATTS ~ And it's a back tatt, which we don't get to drool over as much as those fabulous ones on the arms and sides. They are just as delish.

This series is a great read. Cannot wait to get my hands on more of that sexy bad boy Dante!

Now it's your turn to show me what cover you love this week. Leave me a comment, I'd love to hear from you.

ARC BOOK REVIEW ~ THE COLLECTOR BY VICTORIA SCOTT

He makes good girls...bad.

Title: The Collector (Dante Walker, Book One)
Author: Victoria Scott
Release Date: March 25, 2013

ARC provided by NetGalley

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence have made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple: weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal-opportunity collector and doesn't want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:

Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within ten days.

Dante doesn't know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect, he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector…and uncover emotions deeply buried.

Book Review

First off--the cover rocks! It portrays a young, attractive male with a touch of badness ~ Black shirt, black pants, black arm bands.  An ultimate bad boy. I was already aboard the Dante train before it really left the station.

This book is told from Dante's POV, which I am a huge sucker for--he is cocky, funny as hell, and oozes a sexual charm that attracts to those he is hunting. He is a demon.

And right now he's been sent by the Boss Man himself to collect the soul of Charlie Cooper. And yes--it's that Boss Man.

We get a glimpse of Dante's shallowness right off the bat when he catches his first glimpse of Charlie in her bedroom:

She looks like a porcelain doll...beat three times with an ugly stick.

But he makes no apologies for the way he is. He is a collector of souls--and he is just waiting for you to sin.

But somewhere along the way, Dante's perspective is utterly changed when he spends time with Charlie. And this change puts the sexy demon's future in jeopardy.

Dante sees the pureness of Charlie's soul and doesn't want to be the one to cast her into fiery flames of hell for eternity. She is the one light in Dane's hopeless existence. She loves him despite his faults.
But he is keeping a huge secret from Charlie--and that secret will destroy everything.

The Collector is a highly entertaining read written with humorous dialogue to make you laugh out loud.

Mr. Awkward rolls up between us, lights a cigarette, makes himself comfortable. It's the same bastard who shows up after you've bumped uglies with a stranger.

But it also has a romantic sweetness of first love.  Dante is that ultimate bad boy turned good guy that young adult readers will gravitate to and keep them coming back for more.

It's her face-- Charlie's face--and in a strange way, I like it the way it is now. Without any changes.
