Question of the Week: What were your favorite reads in March and what books are you most looking forward to in April?

March Reads

  1. Twice Tempted ~ Jeaniene Frost*
  2. Lush ~ Lauren Dane*
  3. Slow Burn ~ Anne Marsh*
  4. Lover At Last ~ JR Ward
  5. Dinner with a Dark Heroine ~ Abigal Gibbs
  6. Seduction and Snacks ~ Tara Sivec
  7. Never Too Far ~ Abbi Glines*
  8. Fallen Too Far ~ Abbi Glines*
  9. Worth The Weight ~ Mara Jacobs*
  10. Flying For Flight ~ Jamie Salsbury
  11. Wait For You ~ J. Lynn*
  12. Something Like Normal ~ Trish Dollar
  13. On Every Street ~ Karina Halle
  14. A Shot of Sultry ~ Macy Beckett*
  15. Ten Tiny Breaths ~ K.A. Tucker
  16. The Indigo Spells ~ Richelle Mead*
  17. Impossible ~ Komal Kant
  18. Death, Doom, and Detention ~ Darynda Jones*
  19. Unfair Advantage ~ Qwilla Rain
  20. The Space Between ~ Victoria H. Smith*
  21. Phoenix Rock Star ~ Bec Botefuhr*
  22. Catching Fire ~ Suzanne Collins*
  23. Immortal Ever After ~ Lynsay Sands*
  24. Knight & Play ~ Kitty French

Out of all my reads for March, only a few were a bit disappointing. But I had a few that also rocked my world:

These four books were the best-of-the-best. And I put an asterisk by those that I also enjoyed. They just didn't have that extra "Umph" that just pushed it over to make me keep talking about them.

Most Anticipated Reads for April

1. Rules of Entanglement ~ Gina L. Maxwell.
Already read and LURVED--devoured it and want seconds. Great series!

2.  Rush Me ~ Allison Parr.
I received this from NetGalley and am looking forward to this New Adult book. I have heard good things about it.

3.  Buck Naked ~ Desiree Holt.
A really awesome friend has recommended this author to me and I haven't gotten to her yet. Maybe I'll start with this one. It looks great and it has a Cowboy for the hero.  Yee-Haw!

4.  King Cobra ~ Jayne Rylon.
Jayne's books are my dirty little secret. LOL. They aren't for everyone as her books are smokin' HAWT and involve **ahem**several men to one woman. And to the men as well. **blushing** But I love them because she also has such great emotion in them. This is the first book of her new series and I am anxious to read about these sexy motorcycle hotties!

5. Extreme Love ~ Abby Niles.
Never read the author, haven't heard the first thing about it--but the cover got to me. And it's about a cage fighter. So....I'll let you know what I think and post a review when I'm done.

6. Surrender ~ Stephanie Tyler.
First off, let me have a fan-girl moment. I love and adore Stephanie and she is awesomesauce.
Okay--this is a first of a new series and I am a sucker for military/special -Ops heroes. So this is a highly anticipated April read for me that I just got today.  ** Happy Dance.

So I'm dying to hear what you loved reading in March and what you can't wait to get your hands on this month ~ Please leave me a comment and let me know!

Question of the Week: Does a book have to have kink of some kind (BDSM, etc.) to get you hot? Or will detailed vanilla love scenes work just as good?

Answer:

No. But I do have a weakness for a sexy Dom who knows how to use a flogger. I love almost all genres of romance. It's a mood thing for me. Sometimes, I'm in the mood for something light--I'll pick up a book by Jill Shalvis. Sometimes, I'm in the mood for something a bit darker and pick up Madeline Sheehan. And then there are days I need a laugh along with a fast-paced plot--hello, Darynda Jones or Janet Evanovich.

But let me be clear here--not ALL authors know how to write BDSM. And I do have my fave authors out there that make me take a cold shower and even sob a bit--Tymber Dalton, Roni Loren, Cherise Sinclair--just to name a few.

And you don't have to talk dirty to be considered hot or to make me all hot and bothered. I have two great examples of that--Kresley Cole's Young Adult, The Poison Princess and Darynda Jones's Death and the Girl Next Door. Their heroes are swoon worthy and had me weak in the knees.

What about you? What makes you swoon and/or is a huge turn off?
I'd love to hear from you.

"Oh, fuck."
"I'll take that as a 'yes'."

Question Of The Week:
What book are you currently in the middle of? Not 'just finished', I want to hear about what you're currently deep into and your thoughts on it right now. Loving it, not so much, or mixed feelings, maybe? Get it all out, sometimes how we feel about a book in the middle is totally different then how we feel at the end. It will be interesting to hear about it now and then go back to check out everyone's reviews later!

Hah--I just had a discussion about books like 5 minutes ago with Francesca from Under the Covers. She is like me, and reads more than one book at a time. Sooooo....right now, I am only just starting two books.

Do you even have to ask what my thoughts are on this one?  Reseph is in one word--delish!  It's great to see the other side of him--not the Pestilence side, but the funny, charming, sexy, Horseman he was before all hell broke loose.

I think I am going to enjoy this one!

And this one, by Maggie Stiefvater, I haven't really jumped too far into yet. I'm only beginning. But I loved her Forever Series and The Scorpio Races. She writes Young Adult and paints a beautiful picture with her words.

And I haven't begun this one, but thanks to Francesca (ahem), I'm sure it won't be long before I suck this one up. I've read the first book in the series, Double Down, and it was a delicious ride--YUM!

What about you ? What book are you really diggin or wishin you were reading something else?

Question of the Week: Do you listen to music while writing reviews or do you need quiet?

Being as my blog title refers to my muse, you'd think that I'd listen to music, or something to help me write.

Nope. I find music when I am writing distracting -- I start to focus on the music and not the words. Apparently, I can walk and chew gum at the same time--but not write and listen to music.  Although...when listenting to music in my car, I do get ideas for my muse. Go figure. I'm a little ass backwards, but, meh--that's the story of my whole life.

Breaking Benjamin

Here are the bands that help me with my muse while in my car--

Avenged Sevenfold

Nickelback

30 Seconds To Mars

Now, what about you? Do you listen to music when writing? What helps you with your muse? DEETS, people!

Have a great weekend ~

Question of the Week:

It's Labor Day Weekend here in the States; the end of those long summer days, relaxing at the beach and family barbecues! Which three fictional book characters would you invite to a barbecue?

1. Simi---from the Dark Hunters. I hear she LURVES BBQ Sauce, lol. Plus, she would be a blast to watch. She's very entertaining.

2 & 3. Brian and Trey from Backstage Pass, so that they could play the guitar for me, er, the guests...and then I could imagine them together with me in the middle as a (hah) filler. Get it?

**crickets chirping**

Okay--I am a little whacky without enough caffeine in the morning.

What about you? Who would you invite to your soiree and why?

Oh Boy---Crystal has a fun one for us this week--Let's see just how naughty you ladies are!!

Naughty Questionnaire:

1. Sex in the morning, afternoon or night?

LOL---this is a trick question, right?  If pressed for one answer, it would be at night--it's a great relaxer for me, and I usually curl up in the fetal position after a few O's. Hubby wants to go out and mow the lawn, lol.

2. What side of the bed do you sleep on?

Okay, who is thinking up these questions?  LOL--I sleep ALL OVER the bed. I am a huge bed hog and I flip/flop in it like a fish, until I can find my comfy spot and fall asleep. But I typically start on the left side of bed. OH---and I must have a minimum of 3 pillows.

3. Have you ever taken your clothes off for money?

Nope.

4. Would your friends say that you were shy or outgoing?

Outgoing for shizzle.

5. Do you want someone aggressive or passive in bed?

Sheesh...Um...today?  Agressive, lol.

6. Love or money?

Love for shizzle--money comes and goes too quickly in my hands, lol.  I am a romantic at heart.

7. What is the weirdest place that you have had sex?

Mmm...damn...that's a toughie. Maybe my hubby's workplace, after hours.

8. Have you ever been to a strip club?

Yep...it was a club in Atlanta-called the Coronet Club-it had both men and women.

9. Have you ever been kicked out of a bar or club?

LOL---just happened in New Orleans--sort of. And a long story. But the manager came out and was being a real DICK. We  left by choice. He started ranting and saying, "I will call the police if you don't pay for your beer."....He was a real asshole, but his wait staff was very nice. It was called Sammy's...don't go there. (On Bourbon St.)

10. Have you ever kissed someone of the same sex?

LOL---yeah...we shared a shot, it was a spontaneous moment and there were no pictures and very little tongue.

11. Have you ever had sex in a movie theater?

Ewww....no.  Huh, I have standards, who knew?

12. Have you ever had sex in a bathroom?

Not a public one. <-----(what she said, lol)

13. Have you ever had sex at work?

See question 7---but as for my place of work? No.

14. Have you ever been in an 'adult' store?

Are you freakin' kidding me? That is a no brainer, lol. Yes. Several times to refurbish the toy box.

15. Have you ever purchased anything from an 'adult' store?

Yep--sometimes those damn toys break. I'm kind of "hard" on them, lol.

16. Have you ever been caught having sex?

Twice, that I can recall.  Once was when I was the only girl in a camper with 4 other men (not an orgy people, lol---we were at the races.) and my hubby (boyfriend at the time). We thought everyone was asleep.  Apparently not cause someone (not naming names) shouted, "Jesus...can you two stop rocking the camper?"
Second time, my roomie came in living room for a midnight snack. She was naked, we were naked, lol....Classic FREEZE and screaming ensued.

17. Have you ever made your significant other read a sex scene from one of your books?

BWAHHHHH----no....hubby would so not do that. He thinks they are silly.

18. Have you ever acted out a sex scene that you read about in a book?

Parts of one, yeah...but it just didn't have that UMPH factor I was going for. It ended up being more amusing than sexy.

So, am I tame compared to you other ladies? Do tell.

Question:  Please share three books that are in your review pile (and unread) right now.

Answer:  Whew...glad you didn't ask to list ALL the books in the review pile. That's just soooo embarrassing. It's all Net Galley's fault. Like, Amazon, that click to get button is just too damn easy. You should have to fill out a huge ass form before you get them. Maybe that would deter me from clicking.
Meh...not.

1.  Demon Hunting in the Deep South by Lexi George ~ Reading it right now.
2. Can't Hurry Love by Molly O'Keefe ~ Reading it right now.
3. Run The Risk by Lori Foster ~ just got this goodie on my kindle today. Huge fan of Foster's books.

Question of the Week: Do you have a 'feel good' read or author that you go to whenever you're sick or feeling down?

Answer:
I do have a few series that I re-read when I feel like I am missing my favorite characters. They have become such a part of my fictional family, lol.

One author that always makes me feel good is Suzanne Brockmann. In fact, I am re-reading Gone Too Far right now. It is Sam and Alyssa's story (fave character pairing ever) and I have just a few pages left. Sigh...Sam is just such a great Alpha hero. If you have no read Brockmann's Troubleshooters Series and love Romantic Suspense with Military heroes and strong heroines...check them out. Seriously.

Click here for Brockmann's list of her books.

Any of the Brothers will do, but I have a weak spot for V.  His story is definitely not a pick-me-up, but I love it all the same.

What about you? What book do you turn to when you need to feel better?

And of course, I can ALWAYS COUNT on JR Ward's BDB Series to cheer me up and **ahem** turn me on.

What do you take when you go on vacation?

Question of the Week: When going on vacay; do you pack your print books, ereader or both?

Easy peasy---I just returned from vaca (The Outer Banks) and took both one print book and my Kindle.

During the time I was there I read Molly O'Keefe's book, Can't Buy Me Love in paperback. I also read the following two novella's on my kindle:

All of them were great reads!
