Book Review

I have fallen in love with Beckett's Sultry Springs Series. It has charm, humor, and that loving familiarity that comes from living in a small town. Reading Beckett's books is like sipping on sweet tea, rocking on your front porch, while watching the sun set. I can practically hear the cicadas chirping. 

Colt Bea was a teenage rebel, hell bent on living it up and causing trouble wherever he went. But when he meets Sultry Springs preacher's daughter, Leah McMahon, he finds out just how perfect heaven feels in his arms. 

But Colt takes Leah's tender heart and breaks it in two--and Leah flees town only to return ten years later in order to take care of her father.

During Leah's absence, Colt realizes just how much he wronged her. And his guilt push him to heavy drinking and womanizing, until he's caught in the sticky trap of a woman scorned. Said woman beams him with her car and Colt's serious injuries give him time to reflect on his bad boy ways and he turns over a new leaf. 

But he has never forgotten the girl he once had--his Angel--and how he let her slip right through his fingers. 

When Leah returns to Sultry Springs, Colt is determined to set things right and show Leah he's not the boy he used to be. But Leah has a secret that has the potential to blow any chance of reconciliation sky high. 

Beckett is a natural when it comes to creating unforgettable characters layered with good 'ol southern humor. And Sultry Springs is a place you will want to come back and visit time and time again.

Let me just say that Macy Beckett has fast become an auto-buy author for me. Her characters have life, spunk, and sass. Her stories are genuine--full of passion and a down home earthiness that makes them feel like family. 
And she knows how to write a hot Texas Sheriff whose very good at doing the impossible!

Book Review 

I love discovering new authors that rock it out of the starting gate and blow my mind with their characters and fictional world. And Macy Beckett has done just that.

A Shot of Sultry is book two in Macy's adult debut series. (Click here for my review of Sultry with a Twist). Trey Lewis was introduced in the first book as a secondary character that easily won over my heart. He was sexy, funny-as-hell, and so needed his own HEA.

Bobbi Gallagher returns to her hometown of Sultry Springs, determined to repair her injured reputation as a documentary film maker. She is producing a new reality t.v. show--Sex in the Sticks. Not exactly award winning television, but she has to start somewhere.

Trey's mind is on leaving Sultry Springs and returning overseas for a military contract that will change his OTH discharge with the Army.    His best friend and business partner, Logan Gallagher, has no clue that Trey has no intention of returning. 

But things quickly change when Bobbi sets her sights on Trey and Colt (the town's sexy sheriff) as the two men to spotlight on Sex in the Sticks. Colt, bad-boy extraordinaire signs up ready, willing, and able--Trey is more or less coerced by Logan, so he can protect his baby sister from rowdy (er, horny) cowboys intent on getting their groove on with Bobbie. Logan is aware of Trey's reputation and warns him to keep his hands off of his sister in the meantime. 

Easy Peasy. 

Bobbie and Trey has instant chemistry that sizzles on the page and the two have a hard time keeping their hands off each other. Both decide to have a summer romance--no strings attached--and secret to avoid Logan finding out. 

What follows is a humorous, steamy, love story about two people who have found their perfect match. Macy packs in quirky southern charm and humor that had me laughing out loud. A delicious read-- with a secondary story involving Colton that I cannot wait to get my hands on! 

September 2013 is sooooo far away.

Trey didn't care how hot she was, threesomes were off the menu, especially when another dude was involved. The risk of crossing swords was too high. Plus, nobody liked boldly going where their friends had just gone before.

Squinting against the sunlight, he glanced at the tent he'd created beneath the sheet. Hell, that was no ordinary tent--it was a friggin' Ringling Brothers Big Top. You could fit a clown car under that dome.

"She's got baby fever.""Oh, snap." Well, hell. That'd take the jingle out of any man's junk. "Too bad there's no Tylenol for that."

I absolutely loved and adored this spicy southern romance.  And I must say that the cover of this book was a bit deceiving, lol. I expected a sweet story with a bit of charm--but what I got was chock full of spice that I wanted more of.

Mae Augustine was a heroine that I could relate to and for me, the friends-to-lovers story, was well crafted with well developed characters. The dialogue itself is a pure joy reading and had me laughing through tears.

Actually, her mama and daddy had been the wildest, most lovable, booze-swilling fools in Sultry Springs, Texas. God rest their pickled souls.

 

I am a Southern gal, born and raised, and I swear I could almost taste the fried chicken and biscuits. My mouth actually watered and I had a craving for home, my mama's cooking, and fresh veggies from the garden. I even recognized from my own childhood the ol' wooden spoon that Grandma kept in her kitchen at arm's length and used to whack unruly kids. This story was like a blast from the past for me.

Macy has a hit on her hands with this saucy southern tale of finding out exactly where you belong and second chances at life, and especially love.

Well, my post is a bit late...sorry. I've had issues with my neck and shoulder, which makes sitting at my laptop sometimes quite uncomfortable. UGH.

But this little ditty comes from a book that will be released October, 1, 2012. I am only about 38% into it, and so far--it's fantastic. Love it!

This is a first time scene...as in deflowering. And it's HAWT!

  "He was ready too--had been since the moment she'd slipped off her bikini--but he wanted to give June pleasure before the pain. The only problem was how she might react. Some girls were squeamish about it. He reached between her thighs to stroke her again and said, "I want to kiss you here first."

     "You can do that?" When June's mouth popped open and her eyebrows shot up, it took every ounce of Luke's dwindling self-control not to smile. But he remained stoic, refusing to laugh at her innocence. It just made her that much more beautiful. "But," she objected, "isn't that kind of gross?"

     "Uhn-uh." He shook his head and continued moving his thumb in slow, lazy circles. Then he slipped his index finger inside where she was warm and snug. Though it took Herculean effort, he tried not to imagine how it would feel around his painfully hard shaft. This part was must for her; he needed to focus on her. The he brought that same glistening finger to his mouth and sucked it clean right in front of her astonished eyes. "You're delicious, and I want to taste you again. Just say yes."

 ***Fans self. This Luke is one hot Texan who knows how to charm a gal. LURVE it so far and can't wait to read more tonight after kiddies are in bed.
