I feel that I need to give a little bit of a history lesson for those of you not familiar with LRJ's books.

First off, The Zodius Series was inspired by Lisa's Underground Guardian series---also a great set of books, BTW, but not a MUST READ first to understand the books in the Zodius Series.

Click here to read more about the Underground Protector Series.

Next, I should let you know that The Danger That Is Damion is Book Three in the Series...and the first two books are just as divine and addicting. The covers ain't shabby either, lol.

Book One

Book Two

Lastly, for those of you that I have enticed with awesome and drool worthy covers...here is a little back story from Lisa Renee Jone's Blog page to help fill in the gaps. And trust me, if this doesn't grab your interest, I don't know what will, lol.
This series is fresh, action oriented, smexy, and filled with compelling characters that I want more of.

Area 51 has proven to be more than a place from which alien rumors originate. It is there that the United States government created Super Soldiers under the top secret “Project Zodius,” soldiers they called GTECH enhanced. Alien DNA purported to be immunizations was injected into elite soldiers, and a new race was created—soldiers with unique powers. Human to the normal eye, but not quite so human anymore.
All Super Soldiers are dangerous but some are stronger and more powerful than others. All are fighters with incredible strength and speed along with unique mental powers. Rapid metabolism delivers them an amazing ability to heal from injuries, and a simple bullet is no longer deadly against muscles like steel. They are deadly fighting machines who can travel with the wind.
Along with this new breed of soldier had come a thirst for power. A thirst that Adam Rain intends to sate. This soldier had developed a vision for a “perfect race.” He became the new Hitler, calling his followers, those enhanced soldiers, the “Zodius.”
The first step in Adam’s plan to rule humanity had been to take over Area 51. The main obstacle to his plan had been breeding, and he had a team of scientists working to solve the problems: a GTECH can only bear children if mated; and a Zodius only has one true mate (Lifebond). This meant he had to find compatible women for his men, an obstacle he became determined to overcome. This had left him searching for genetic and alternative birthing methods. He had used humans like tokens, promised them power or conversion, or threatened their families. Once he has perfected a way to grow his race, there will be no stopping him.
A group of these Super Soldiers led by his brother, Caleb, has defied Adam’s rule and formed “The Renegades.” These Renegades operate from a hidden facility deep in the Nevada mountains below the surface of the earth, designed to hide the Renegades from Zodius radar. These Renegades will form an uneasy alliance to the United States government, protecting humanity.

But Adam aspires to rule the world, and he believes he can do so with Caleb by his side. Adam is taking every step possible to ensure that Caleb joins him, and that the Renegades become part of the Zodius.
Caleb and his Renegades will do anything to see Adam fall and humanity saved from his wrath.

Book Review

I have been hooked on this series from the beginning, and for me, the books just get better and better. The action, the romance, the witty dialogue--all of it make for a highly enjoyable read.

Lisa has created such an interesting world, unique in this sometimes over-saturated genre. She continues to keep the pace of this series ever changing--secrets kept and revealed, questionable bad guys whose loyalty could change at the blink of an eye---and I am definitely on board for this exciting series. Her characters are highly developed, her world building skills rock the house, and I am in love with the Renegades.  Gimmie More, Lisa!!

His hands caressed a path down her sides, sending warm tingling through her limbs, and she was lost in the sensation. That was, until she realized he was pulling her dress over her backside, because it had been shoved up over her hips, and she hadn't even noticed. What was it about this man? She couldn't keep her dress down around  him.

MONDAY MAILBOX

Wow--It's been a while since I have done one of these...I have been struggling to keep up with everything in real life and have had let some things slide. But today is a new day, a new week, and a new beginning to get my shit together --

What books did you get over the weekend?

I have been feeling the YOUNG ADULT buzz and got a couple of books to read and add to my pile.

1. Infamous ~ Sherrilyn Kenyon --Chronicles of Nick--Book Three
I haven't read book two yet, but I'm a sucker for punishment, so I bought it. Book One was fabulous and I lurved it. I am dying to see just how Sherrilyn 'talks' her way out of her predicament. For those that follow the Dark Hunters series, you know who Nick Gautier is. What you might NOT know, is that the young adult series follows Nick from his first introduction with these Dark Hunters and things get a little dicey. In order for the world as we know it not to be destroyed---things in the past must change.
So just how in the hell will this work out for future Dark Hunter books? I highly suggest reading this series if you follow the Dark Hunter Series--they have the same 'feel' as her Dark Hunter series, just minus all the hot smexy factor...but the books rock!

2.  Tempted Again ~ Cathie Linz

I have only read one of Cathy's books--BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY--and I loved the humor sprinkled in her writing. The excerpt caught my attention for her newest book--
Marissa Bennett needs to start over, but the last thing she needs is a new man in her life. Enter sexy lawman Connor Doyle-the high school bad boy who took her innocence. She knows she should turn the page on her past, but Connor is irresistible. Has she come all the way home just to get her heart broken again?

 3.  Embrace ~ Jessica Shirvington --- The Violet Eden Chapters Book One-Young Adult Book
This cover called to me and the premise sounded really good.

It starts with a whisper: “It’s time for you to know who you are…”
Violet Eden dreads her seventeenth birthday. After all, it’s hard to get too excited about the day that marks the anniversary of your mother’s death. As if that wasn’t enough, disturbing dreams haunt her sleep and leave her with very real injuries. There’s a dark tattoo weaving its way up her arms that wasn’t there before.
Violet is determined to get some answers, but nothing could have prepared her for the truth. The guy she thought she could fall in love with has been keeping his identity a secret: he’s only half-human—oh, and same goes for her.

A centuries-old battle between fallen angels and the protectors of humanity has chosen its new warrior. It’s a fight Violet doesn’t want, but she lives her life by two rules: don’t run and don’t quit. When angels seek vengeance and humans are the warriors, you could do a lot worse than betting on Violet Eden.

4. The Danger That Is Damion ~ Lisa Renee Jones (Book 3 of the Zodius Series).

The first two books blew me away--I loved them. They had a splash of unique to the paranormal genre with a sizzling doze of primo Alpha males that are drool-worthy. Also a gripping plot with twists and turns made it a great read that I had trouble putting down. I am eager for Damion's story.

Sensual Rating 4 Stars--Smoking HAWT!

Excerpt:
Hawthorne Castle
Central England, 1127
Jealousy, if left unbridled, could turn a good soul as black as Satan.
And so it was the first time Serena of Hawthorne saw Lord Drogan of Wolfglynn with another woman. The jealousy was instant and sharper than any needle that could pierce her skin. The fact that she hadn’t even met Drogan and so shouldn’t have noted the beautiful woman on his arm did not go unnoticed by Serena.
She was a bana-bhuidseach, a witch, cursed and forever alone. ‘Twas because of what she was, men rarely caught her attention. Except for Drogan.
Her always sure footed feet faltered and then stopped as the excessively crowded great hall allowed her an unobstructed view of Drogan for a heartbeat. But in that moment, his image would be etched in her memory for all time.
People teemed around her, but Serena didn’t notice. She closed her eyes and let her mind’s eye looked over Lord Drogan of Wolfglynn at her leisure. What she saw made her break into a sweat and her soul stirred for the first time.
Dark auburn hair fell straight and thick, with a slight curl at the end, to his broad shoulders. He had a high forehead with gently arching brows over eyes of a rich golden brown. His nose was straight and aristocratic, and his mouth wide and full.
He wore a brown leather jerkin over a deep green tunic that didn’t hide the rippling muscles in his arms and chest. Her eyes moved lower to his thick legs encased in tight leather. Boots, worn but well cared for, encased his feet and calves.
Serena caught of glimpse of something shiny from the top of his left boot, alluding to a hidden dirk. The broadsword and dagger strapped to his waist let all know he was a warrior.
She opened her eyes and found Drogan staring at her. For the briefest of moments, Serena found herself starting toward him before someone bumped into her. 'Twas all she needed to break away. She turned her back on Drogan and the longing in her heart.
Duty called.

Review:

There isn't a Donna Grant book that I do not like. EVER. She is such a brilliant writer of historical romance-and Shadow Magic is NO exception.

Serena, a cursed witch, can see the future. And the future for friends Gerar, his wife, and new baby is one that ends in death.
Drogan, a fierce warrior, struggles to fight back the darkness that consumes his very soul.
Together, the two stand against evil and fight to chnage the fate of a family-and ultimately, fight to save the promise of a future together.
This steamy paranormal romance is filled with magic, both good and evil, and dark secrets that threaten to keep the lovers apart. And Donna Grant weaves a tale with vivid detail, smexy lovin', and twists that keep you on your toes. The only bad part? You want more.

Thank God there are two more books in this series of magic and romance.

Echos of Magic, the second of the Sisters of Magic Trilogy is released today.
Dangerous Magic, the final installment, will be released December 27, 2011

Other great books by Donna Grant include her Dark Sword Series--A Sensual Paranormal series with sexy Alpha Highlanders that take your breath away!  Click on the icon below to get more info on these great books!

The Hero: Sterling
He was created, molded, formed from life, love, and misery…
Lethally daring. Ruthlessly passionate. He invites death to his door. Welcomes it with each breath he draws, each step he takes. And thus he is danger. A volatile storm that will sweep across the calm realms of humanity and shake it to the depths of its core. And that storm is…Sterling

EXCERPT:

His cheek brushed hers, whiskers erotically scraping against her skin, his breath warm against her ear as he whispered, “If I instinctively know something so simple as how to order your dinner, think what else I might know about you. What we might know about each other. How to tease each other… How to please each other.”
There was an emptiness inside her that shuddered with hope, with a plea that he would drive it away, fill it with something that wasn’t icy and cold.
He pulled back and looked at her, his eyes dark, passionate. Compelling. “No regrets, Becca,” he vowed, and she knew he’d found those words in her head. Words she’d sworn to live by when she’d left that German hospital without a cure. Words she’d spoken in her head in the lab earlier with him there.
She rolled them around inside her and let them take root, rewarded herself with a deep inhalation of Sterling’s addictive, masculine scent. “No regrets,” she said softly.
A slow smile formed on his lips. “I love it when you agree with me,” he teased.
Becca laughed. “You’re crazy.”
“About you,” he said huskily.
She felt a little schoolgirl rush from that. In the past, she would have felt like the geeky bookworm with the quarterback, uncomfortable and out of her league, but not with Sterling. Never before had a man taken her from such dark emotions to laughter. A place she might just find real escape.
She pressed her hands to his face, her lips to his. Absorbing him. Breathing him in like a little piece of life. They lingered that way, heat simmering between them. Expanding… drawing them in closer to one another without ever moving
His tongue flickered against her lips, pressed past her teeth as he slid it against hers for a long, sensual taste. “Your kisses taste like honey,” he murmured. “What does the rest of you taste like?”
She shivered at the erotic comment—the promise he was going to find out. He kissed her again. Crazy-wild, hot-kissed her, and she loved every second of it. Loved his tongue, his lips, and his hands sliding through her hair, over her face.
Becca ran her fingers through his thick, blond hair. She loved his hair—a little wild like him. Hot like him too. With each stroke of his tongue, each touch of his lips, she felt liberated.
Her palms traveled over his chest—warm, hard muscle, her reward. She was extremely, intensely interested in those muscles, like the best science project in the world that had to be studied. She explored his arms, his biceps, how they felt beneath her palms. Inching forward in her chair, she arched into him, for research purposes, of course. To explore how he would feel pressed close to her. Her breasts ached for his touch, her nipples tight and swollen, in need of his mouth. God. Had she really just had that brazen thought? She was a good girl; she always had been.
His hands slid over her breasts, fingers teased the stiff peaks of her nipples. Her hands covered his, silently telling him she wanted more, because she couldn’t ask or demand. Because she was still that “good girl” at heart and couldn’t seem to let it go.
But she didn’t want to be a good girl. If anyone knew the meaning of “life is short,” she did. Becca ran her lips over his jaw, hid her face in his neck, and nibbled as she said, “You know what I want?”
He slid his hands around her waist. “If you say Chinese food, I’m going to object.”
“I’ll give you a choice then,” she said, feeling braver with his jest. “Feed me, or take off your clothes.”
“I’m all for getting naked, if you are,” he quickly agreed.
“You first,” she bargained.
And while the idea of standing in front of him naked, him fully clothed, would make her feel vulnerable, exposed, it apparently had none of those effects on him.
“Okay,” he said, unaffected by the idea as he pushed to his feet and started undressing. And only seconds later, he stood there in all his naked glory, and she sat there, fully clothed.

Review:

This is the second of Lisa Renee Jones Zodius series---and I am HOOKED, people. The first of the series, The Legend that is Michael starts off the story, and I highly suggest you start there. I am a fan of following a series in order. And you do get to meet Sterling in this first book.

This new series is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE. There is a bit of romantic suspense, paranormal, --and I think, science fiction--that keeps you on your toes. Lisa spins a tale with twists, turns, and surprises. At the end of the first book, I was yearning for more.

Sterling is just the kind of man that I adore in my books-smooth, charming, sexy, darkly secretive, and snarky. His humor, in and out of the bed, was swoon worthy.

Becca is the kind of heroine you can admire-intelligent, loyal, and unshakable inner strength.
Adam, the arch villain of this series is a character you loathe, despise, and wanna kick in the balls. He is an amoral, sadistic, sick fuck. Just the way I like my villains. And you are also introduced to **SPOILER** Adam's son--Dorian. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, people. He gave me the chills.

Next up in the series is Daimon...To be released in May of 2012. And believe me, peeps--as soon as I can, I will be pre-ordering this read.
Bravo, Lisa!

Lisa Renee Jones ~ Guest Blog Appearance on Her Blog Tour

Hello everyone!  I have recently 'discovered' another great author, Lisa Renee Jones. And I am happy to have her here at my blog today.  I am just one of her many stops on her Halloween Blog Tour.

At each stop there will be great giveaways! Be sure to stop by each blog. Lisa will also have a special surprise for one person who follows each stop and comments!

In the spirit of Halloween, and all that is scary, eerie, and creepy, I will be reviewing her novella, Hot Vampire Seduction.

But first, here is Lisa Renee Jones--

Thanks so much to Trish for having me today! I write about vampires, werewolves, and various dark and deadly creatures with dark and deadly story lines, frequently in my books. Before I met my DH though, barely watching or read paranormal stories. In fact, right before meeting him I had discovered a few Vampire stories I liked and was shocked. Well, DH loves the paranormal world, and he is trying to convince me we should go on a ghost hunting training event with a Colorado paranormal association. I don’t know…I get SCARED lol. In my books, my hero is always paranormal too so he can save the heroine. In real life, DH has to face facts. He’s human lol.  However, the temptation is there simply because I have found watching scary movies actually makes me write about being scared much more effectively, with sharper clarity. One who we started watching that you guys have to try if you like scary stuff is THE HAUNTED on the animal planet. That show has scared us both several times before bed!http://animal.discovery.com/tv/the-haunted/

I kid you not – this show will make a believer out of you in the paranormal.

Now my Vampire Wardens won’t scare you, though the bad guy in the trilogy is pretty bad. He’s a werewolf created from a virus that makes a rabid wolf. In my Warden world, there are good wolves too but they are natural born.  In fact, in December my story Wicked Werewolf Night, will be about a wolf in the same world as the Wardens.  Hot Vampire Touch – book 3 in my Wardens will release, followed by Wicked Werewolf Night.

To win a bath and body shop goodie bag, just tell me if you think I should do the paranormal investigation trip or tell me your favorite ghost story!

The Vampire Wardens Book 2
Self-published (September 12, 2011)

Here is a peek of Book 2 in the Vampire Warden Series

The underground vampire population of Austin, Texas has taken to hosting orgies with human women who’ve been forced to indulge in a new aphrodisiac. The drug, Blood Red, is a mixture of a rare type of werewolf blood and that of a vampire. Blood Red creates an insatiable desire for sex in the user to the point of pain in the absence of pleasure. Sometimes that pain leads to death.
Vampire Warden, Aiden Brooks, has spent more than a hundred years enforcing the laws of his race, and life has taught him that anyone that he allows into his world ends up dead. Despite knowing this all too well, having painfully loved and lost in his past, when his search for the creator of Blood Red places coroner Kelly Riggs directly in both his path, and that of a dangerous clan of vampires, his desire for her goes well beyond offering her protection. He’s drawn to her bravery, seduced by her feisty spirit and beauty, but he is determined to resist her, fearing he will put her in harms way. But Kelly is already on the radar of the enemy, and when she gets too close to the evil vampire clan’s secrets, she is given Blood Red. Now Aiden’s hunger for her might be the only thing that can keep her alive but who will save her from him?

I loved this short story. It had suspense, vamps, and a wicked, hot menage scene that I didn't see coming. (no pun intended, swear).

I read this series out of order, unintentionally, and will be picking up the first of the series.

Lisa packs a punch in this novella-characters you can care about, suspense that grabs you by your throat, and smexy times that make your toes curl. I read it from start to finish in one seating. And like any great author, at the end, she left me wanting more.
