DOUBLE TROUBLE
Faith Aldridge wants answers. Bramble, Texas is the only place she can find them . . . as well as Hope, the identical twin sister she never knew she had. But the townsfolk reckon that shy city-girl Faith is really her long-lost sister Hope, back in Bramble at last. And they're fixin' to do whatever it takes to heat things up between her and Hope's long-time flame, Slate Calhoun. If that means rustling her car, spreading rumors like wildfire, and reining in some explosive secrets, well, there's no way like the Lone Star way . . .
But Slate's no fool. The woman in his truck may look like Hope, yet the way she feels in his arms is altogether new. He's determined to keep this twin in his bed and out of his heart. Trouble is, the real Hope is headed home, and she's got her own designs on Slate. If Faith wants to avoid heartbreak, she'll have to show a certain ruggedly handsome cowboy that this crazy-impossible love is worth fighting for.

But when her husband unexpectedly dies, Shirlene finds herself right back where she started-in a rundown trailer on the wrong side of the tracks. Never the type to let a little bad luck and a whole heap of heartache get her down, Shirlene is ready to prove to the local gossips she can make it on her own... until she ends up living next door to the most tempting cowboy in town.

Billy Wilkes has a score to settle and a plan to wipe Bramble right off the map. But when his sexy, redheaded neighbor figures out what he's up to, his good ol' boy charm won't be enough to save him. With the town on his tail, Billy will have to come clean quick -- or kiss Shirlene goodbye.

Q & A with Katie Lane

“Come on, Honey, I’ll show you mine, if you show me yours.”--Colt, Make Mine A Bad Boy

I have to admit the cover is what drew me to the books. Who can pass up a half-nekked cowboy, in jeans, and a cowboy hat no less?   And with ‘Bad Boy’ in the title?  Sign me up, please. I am a sucker for a bad boy. Then I read the blurb on the back cover for Make Mine A Bad Boy:

Hope Scroggs is finally ready to get hitched. After years of sowing her wild oats, the former head cheerleader and homecoming queen has returned to Bramble, Texas, to marry her high school flame. But her perfect wedding plans are stomped to smithereens when her adoring cowboy two-steps down the aisle with some else. Now Hope is stuck with the one man from her past whose sultry kisses are hotter than the Panhandle in August…
I was intrigued.
Little did I know -- I purchased the books out of order. So, I HAD to go out to the bookstore-AGAIN- and buy the first book of the series, Going Cowboy Crazy.  Snort, like that was some kind of hardship-NOT.
I am in LURVE.
Before I finished reading the book, I scrambled to my laptop, searched for Katie Lane’s email, and asked if she would love to appear on my blog.
What a sweetie—she said yes, I squeed, and now I am writing questions that hopefully find me to be insightful, snarky, and down right entertaining—If not, then I suggest you pick up these two books, because not only will they tickle your humerus bone (nurse humor thrown in for the hell of it), they will fog up your glasses, curl your toes and make you swoon with lust. Not to mention a few girly bits begging for some one-on-one attention. Just sayin’.

First off, welcome Katie! Thanks for stopping by my blog to play. I am so glad you’re here.
Katie: Thanks for having me.
I went to your web page, www.katielanebooks.com because I had to learn more about you. But there are still some missing pieces to the puzzle.  And I like to ask nosy questions, lol.
You didn’t start writing until after your two daughters were grown. What did you do before you started writing professionally?
Katie:  I worked as a kindergarten teacher. (And loved every second of it.)
You seemed like a very creative child—writing stories, lost in the imaginary worlds you created. What was your favorite book as a child?
Katie: I loved Dr. Seuss and fairytales, which might explain my need to place my hero and heroine in the middle of zany characters.
As an adult, have those tastes changed?
Katie: I still enjoy happily-ever-afters, but I’ve given up Dr. Seuss. (Except at Christmas when I must read the Grinch.)
My daughter is scared of the Grinch--I had to throw away the video tape, lol. But I still have the book, The Lorax, which was the first book I bought for my son. I have read that like a gazillion times.
What books do you enjoy reading?
Katie: Anything that holds my interest.
What were the last 5 books you’ve read?
Katie: Hmmm, I finished The Hunger Games Series, Simply Irresistible, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, and I just finished rereading Catcher in the Rye.  Now is the time when I start reading any Christmas romance I can get my hands on.
And do you have an all-time favorite book that you re-read on occasion?
Katie: Shanna by Kathleen Woodiwiss.  Ruark is still the hottest hero ever.
I so agree with you on that one-what a fantastic book. I remember sneaking that book into my room and reading it, not telling my mom because she would have thought I was too young. That book started my obsession of romance. And Ruark? Sigh.....
How did you celebrate when you published your first book?
Katie:  Are you kidding?  I’m still celebrating.  But right after I got “the call” I went to lunch with my mama and sis.
Tell us a little about that experience please.
Katie: The lunch or the call?  The lunch was Sweet Tomatoes and my lettuce was a little limp.  The call was one of those moments that you dream about, but then when it happens you’re just struck dumb.  At least, I was.  It didn’t sink in until I walked into a bookstore and saw my books on the shelves, then I freaked out the young sales guy by diving in his arms.
When you finish your book, who reads it first?
Katie: It depends on who has the time.  Sometimes my daughters get first peek, sometimes my friends.
Who is your favorite fictional hero?
Katie: Atticus from To Kill a Mockingbird.
If you were stranded on a desert island, who would you want for company?
Katie:  Okay, so this is corny, but I’d take my husband.  He’s my best friend.  And he really cracks me up and would be good at starting signal fires.
I would have to make sure my hubby was with me, too. That man can do anything. We're lucky.
What do you wish you could do better?
Katie: Write.
Well, you do damn good in my opinion. *Smiles Big*
What is the best advice you ever received about writing?
Katie:  I’m not sure, but I think it was Norman Lear who, when people asked him how to become a writer, answered with one word—write.  I think that’s pretty great advice.
If you could travel in time, where would you go?
Katie: Probably to 2111.  I’m curious to see how people and the planet turn out.
What would readers be surprised to learn about you that they didn’t know?
Katie:  I’m weird.
**Snort--well, you fit right in here. Huge fan of weird.
What is up next for the city of Bramble?
Katie: I have an ebook anthology with Jill Shalvis and Hope Ramsay called Small Town Christmas that is out now.  My story, O Little Town of Bramble, is about a farmer who falls in the love with the girl next door, and of course the crazy townsfolk are at it again by putting on a live nativity scene that really has the “poop” hitting the fan.  Catch Me a Cowboy comes out in April of 2012.  I’ve pair Shirlene Dalton from my previous books with the cutest, sexiest dog-gone hero you’ll ever want to meet.

Are you doing any book signings and/or appearances in the upcoming year that you can tell us about?
Katie:   I’ll be in LA for RWA at the end of July and would love for people to come see me.
Thanks so much for stopping by to visit with us. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
Katie: My pleasure, Trish.  Thank you for the opportunity!

  1. I think it's because they work outside all the time and get hot and sweaty. They have really good bodies because of their physical labor. Girls just can't resist them! My email is srbagby50@gmail.com

  2. Shelley,
I totally agree-I love a muscled man from physical labor vs gym muscles. Thanks for participating

  3. I think it's because cowboys are
    1. tough - no sissies allowed. They wouldn't last long on the range!
    2. strong - physical labor and riding horses (which requires core muscle tone! Think great abs!)
    3. strong sense of integrity - well, the heros do, anyhow.
    4. self-confident - nothing sexier than a self-confident man!

And the heroines are usually a spunkier breed too. Smart and yet soft enough to tame these strong loners.

Roll all of those characteristics into a wild, dangerous, and often unforgiving environment and you set the stage for conflict and for good to ultimately conquer evil - and for a HEA. :-)

I'd love to read this one too!

  4. Rebecca--Thanks for stopping by and playing!
Katie's books are filled with sexy men who know how to love a woman right--and are hilarious. The secondary characters truly shine in this series just as much as the hero/heroine.
    Good Luck!

  10. Hi y'all! Call me crazy, but I've always had a thing for a man in a Stetson. Think Dean in Giant, Redford as Sundance, and Pitt in Thelma and Louise. These sizzling hot studs are exactly why I love cowboy heroes. I hope you like my cowboys as much.

Thanks to all who posted and good luck in the giveaway!

  11. When I went to Wyoming all I wanted to see was a real cowboy, not the fake boys who wear a stetson and new boots. I love the rough, rugged, could possibly ravish you against a wall after coming in from training horses all day long...yum!

  12. Thanks, Katie for stopping by. And yeah, I have to agree--A Stetson does something for a man, no?
Dutchman's Daughter-I have always wanted to go to Wyoming--Jackson's Hole....it is sooooooo beautiful. And I agree, DD--rough and rugged--a REAL cowboy who actually WORKS the ranch, is way better than a wanna-be. YUM. You gave me a wicked visual **fans self.
