For years, this race believed that they could only reproduce with those of their kind. But hybrids--half human/half Amoveon--have been discovered. And some shifters called Puritans are not happy with this recent find. They believe those with pure blood of the Amoveon race should prevail.
Dante Coltari is a member of the Fox clan, which I admit I did find a little strange at first. When you think of shifter romance, you think, Weres, Panthers, Tigers--animals that are huge, feral beasts. Not a fox. So, I had to put out any preconceived notions out of my head.
But Dante is not a weak character by any means, and Humphreys writes a great Alpha male. He knows that Kerry is his mate from their first meeting. He knows exactly what she is--although Kerry is clueless--and he is determined to protect her at any cost. He is a passionate, gentle lover--a perfect match for the beautiful heroine of the story.
Kerry has felt alone all of her life. Unable to get close to anyone, with the exception of her one friend, Samantha, she avoids intimacy at all cost. She experiences a reeling pain with the smallest of touches and she struggles to hide this "gift" that she considers a curse.
But for the first time, one touch leaves her feeling something different--pleasure. And her world is about to change.
On the periphery waits a monster, one called 'The Punisher', intent on killing Kerry. And Dante races against time to figure out the identity of a vicious killer. Before it's too late.
This book was a great pleasure to read and made me wish I had started at the beginning--Book One, Unleashed, is Samantha and Malcolm.
