This week's question:

What book would you recommend to to heat up your summer?

Answer:
There are just so many delish reads out there that I would recommend, and you'd probably have to duct tape my mouth shut to stop.

Kresley Cole's IAD Series
Cherise Sinclair's Club Shadowlands
Olivia Cunning's Sinners On Tour
Shayla Black's Wicked Lovers Series

And I guess this is a perfect time to introduce a new author that I have recently discovered and love.

R.L. Mathewson is a self-published author that I kind of stumbled upon while on Amazon. The first book I read was from her Pyte/Sentinel Series ~ Tall, Dark, and Lonely.  Although there are some editing issues, the book flowed for me-and I instantly loved it.

Book One
Things are finally looking up for Madison. After years of scraping just to get by she lands her dream job and finally has a decent down payment for a house so she can move her brother and sister into a real home. It’s too bad nothing ever goes the way it’s supposed to. When the mother that abandoned them years ago suddenly shows up and moves them to New Hampshire Madison has no choice but to go or lose her brother and sister. Shoving her dreams aside yet again, Madison tries to make things work, it’s really cold, her fifteen year old sister acts like a hooker in training, men act funny around her, her boss is a real jerk, she feels like an outsider, her best friend turns out to be a sixteen year old punk, and the incredibly handsome guy renting the room adjoining hers not only hogs the bathroom, taking three showers a day and leaving her with cold water, but he also has a secret. A secret that she becomes a bit obsessed with and can’t let go no matter how many times she’s warned off.

Detective Ephraim Williams learned long ago not to show any emotion or allow himself to get attached to humans. What was the point? They came and went and he remained. This time wouldn’t be any different or so he thought. When his landlady told him her grandchildren were moving in he didn’t expect much, well other than to be left alone. What he didn’t expect was to have to fight blood lust every time he so much as caught a whiff of his delectable neighbor’s scent or her bombarding him with questions every time she cornered him. If that’s not bad enough a Master from his past has found him once again and is demanding his blood and is willing to do anything to get it, even using the exasperating neighbor that makes him feel more than pain for the first time in centuries.

Book Two

Chris Williams is used to making sacrifices. For years he’s done his duty by his family and his calling as he awaited the one person that was meant for him. When she finally came into his life she was nothing like the woman he’d expected. Instead of being the warrior ready to help him protect his family and the humans under his care he got…..
A computer geek named Isabella, who somehow managed to get her name on every Master’s hit list. One minute she admits that she’d made a foolish mistake and the next she’s kidnapped, held hostage by a crazy cult who steals her chocolate and she’s sure is after her program, a program she has no plans on giving up anytime soon. As she tries to keep her wits about her the sexiest man she’s ever seen claims her, only he doesn’t seem to happy about it. It’s clear that he doesn’t want her, but the stubborn man just won’t let her go even when it’s clear that he may not have a choice.

Book Three

He should have left her and never looked back…….
But, that’s not how things played out for Caine, a nearly one thousand year old Pyte, who should have known better. Instead of walking away years ago, he stuck around and watched over the only woman he’d ever cared about. When trouble finds her, he knows that he should just cut his losses and walk away, but there was no fighting the hold that woman had on him and now they were both paying the price.

Danni didn’t care that she wasn’t technically a Sentinel and was putting her life in danger every time she went out on patrol, because she had a job to do. It was the only thing that mattered to her anymore and she wasn’t going to let it go without a fight. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t foresee her ex-boyfriend selling her out to a Master, being captured, locked up and stuck in a room with the cranky Pyte that broke her heart years ago and wouldn’t stop glaring at her as if their little predicament was all her fault.

I am now reading book two, Without Regret and LOVE Chris. He was so damn entertaining in the first book and I am glad that he is getting is own HEA.

She also has another great series out entitled, A Neighbor From Hell that I also devoured in two daysI found it hilariously entertaining and smexy.

Book One

Done with being the world’s biggest pushover, Haley decides that things are going to change starting with the aggravating neighbor who has too much charm and not enough restraint. What she didn’t expect was to sucked into his world, but Haley has a game plan and she won’t let herself forget just what the bad boy next door is capable of.

The last thing Jason expected was for his little shy neighbor to go Rambo on him over some ruined flowers. After he decides to take her under his wing he can’t help but that notice that she fits very nicely in his life. Now the only left is to convince her that this is anything but a game.

Book Two
Zoe is used to taking care of herself and has long ago accepted that if anything bad was going to happen, it was going to happen to her. So when she loses her job over something most bosses would probably be happy with and her life starts going down hill from there she doesn’t expect it to get any better. She certainly didn’t expect any help from the loud jerk next door, but then again she has nothing to lose so puts her trust in him and hopes for the best. What she didn’t expect was the once in a lifetime opportunity that he offers her through an arrangement where they both benefit and no one is supposed to get hurt, but she should have known better because her luck has never been that good.
Like most Bradfords, Trevor has a soft spot for food, but that’s about all. He leads a pretty straightforward life and likes to keep things simple and that includes his relationships. He wants the perfect woman and knows exactly what she’ll be like. So when he discovers much to his horror that he’s thinking about his frumpy little neighbor he decides the best way to get his head straight is by working her out of his system. He’ll keep her around, but only until he finds perfection.

The third series, Hollywood Hearts, is also a great steamy read ~

Book One
After wasting too many years on the wrong man Dana is finally able to free herself and her two children only to find herself thrown into the spotlight when her books become an overnight sensation. Suddenly her normal quiet life is gone forever and she’s forced to deal with paparazzi, offers from porn companies, magazines, Hollywood and crazed fans all while trying to keep it together for her kids. She never dreamed she’d catch the eye of the most sought after bachelor in the world. Things like that just didn’t happen to women like her, or did they?

Having a life? What the hell was that? Edward couldn’t remember what it felt like to live his own life without someone watching his every move. Thanks to the paparazzi and the Internet nothing in his life was sacred. Out of desperation to keep some semblance of a life he stops living his own. His family and work are all he has left until he’s made an offer he simply can’t resist. Working with the famous author forces him to open his heart and take a chance. Winning the heart of the woman he loves while the world watches is anything but easy, but he never thought it would be dangerous. His only hope is that they get through it together…..and alive.

Book Two
Tired of being walked all over and ignored, Jamie decided that it was time to make something out of her life. She sold her company, signed a contract and was determined to live it up. Only problem, she was a bit of a recluse, painfully shy, kind of clumsy and didn’t know the first thing about living it up. Thankfully she has a very sexy, very determined editor to help her along the way.

She was everything he could ever want, popular and in demand, but unfortunately for him the author that he needed to make a name for himself was also a little recluse who wasn’t doing what he needed her to do. In order to get her to do what he wants he decides to help her in her little quest for a life and ends up with more than he bargained for.

Her last series, EMS, has only one book at this time--and I haven't gotten to it yet. But I certainly plan to. I haven't been disappointed so far and have enjoyed all of them.

Josephine (Joe for short) and Eric, the EMT crew of Echo 17 have been best friends since they were eight years old. They’ve been through a lot together over the years, but nothing like what they’re about to experience.
As the only man in Joe’s life it’s Eric’s job to be there for her and take care of her even while he drives her crazy, especially if he’s driving her crazy. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for her and when things go south he decides that maybe it’s time that Joe moved on, but could he?

The great things about these books are that they tickle my funny bone while totally turning up the heat ~ A great sexy read to heat up your summer.

  1. Okay, those look really good. I like books that have wit and hotness. Sometimes I laugh while reading books, but I'm not sure the author would be happy that I find some of this stuff just laughable (and I'm looking at you, Fifty Shakes).

    1. cupcake--the great thing too about these books, is that they are .99 on Amazon. Great read for a great price!
My fave series is the Neighbors From Hell---they are bone splittin' funny. The hero in the second book, Perfection, is a complete ass--loveable ass, but a jerkwad of epic proportions. But it freakin works and I laughed so hard in the majority of books one and two.
Let me know if you read them and what you think.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    1. WD~~ OH NO YOU DIDN'T!!!! LOL
Man, we have the same pervy taste. Trevor was just fan-freakin-tastic. At first, I was like, RUH ROH...what an ass! ( Speaking of the part when he stole her pizza and wings, and was like, "It's not like you need it."...or something like that)....he made me laugh and made me very hot.
I loved the first book too--although Jason was much sweeter...with just a bit of bad, lol. LOVED his nickname for her--grasshopper.

    2. We do have the same pervy taste LOL. I adore Trevor, yeah at the beginning I wanted to beat him over the head with his remarks. But he turned out so sweet and sexy lover. Love the shower scene, I really thought they were going to get it on. I like Jason more in this one especially when he was telling his Uncle at work how she is sexually harassing him. He was trying to get her fired beacuse she is pregnant and wants her home resting. Many LOL moments in this book. I actually bought all her books for my Kobo (they are so cheap, really I would pay more for her books). I started reading Tall, Dark and Lonely but stop. No Idea why. I have to get all books for my Nook as I do not read on my Kobo no more. I love her new covers. Cute nickname his little grasshopper.

    3. WD-
I loved Trevor, but agree with you--Jason was much sweeter :)
And LOL--yes the sexual harrassment thing was damn funny. And the way he says that everyone adores and can't help loving him. LOVED the scene at the all-u-can-eat buffet with all of the Bradfords and the fact that Haley had brought a stack of books...BWAHHHH. I am enjoying the Pyte/Sentinel but not as much as these.

  7. Oh LOVE Sinclair and am totally smitten with Kresley Cole :)

I've had Cunning's Backstage Pass on my shopping list forever! Sounds delicious! Oooo just looked and have a R.L Mathewson (Playing for Keeps) on my Nook. Not sure how that happened but will have to check it out now that I know it's got a bit of smexy going on ;)

    1. Herding Cats...I am very curious what you think of Playing for Keeps...it's not very realistic in parts (you'll understand when you read it), but I totally enjoyed it for what is was---a laugh out loud smexy read.

    1. Miss Vain--I am stoked about this little meme this week. I've gotten a ton of responses on it :)
And you are NOT lame--these books are self-published and it's not like they are advertised all over the place. But I have enjoyed them. There are some grammatical editing issues, and USUSALLY they piss me off--but it's not too distracting and some are better edited than others. Thanks for stopping here and if you DO check them out, let me know--I'd love to hear what you think. There is a paranormal series that you may like.
