She is on a quest for answers; answers that could just get her killed.

Six months after the mysterious yacht explosion that killed Cassie Christo’s mother and stepbrother, authorities still have no answers to the cause. Searching for closure, Cassie returns to her childhood home on the Pacific Coast of Baja, Mexico, where she launches her own investigation into the accident. She never expected to find an adversary in the man who had once touched her heart with kindness in her darkest moment.

Rio’s been fantasizing about reconnecting with Cassie for months. But not here and sure as hell not now. As an undercover agent with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, he’s working the biggest sting operation in all of northern Mexico, and he definitely doesn’t have time for the wild attraction he feels for Cassie.

Not only is his cover on the line, so is his heart. Because as the end of a yearlong operation draws closer, Rio knows if he tells Cassie the truth about who and what he is, it won’t only jeopardize his mission, it may result in him losing her forever. And if he doesn’t, his lies and deception could get them both killed.

Book Review

What I love about Swan's Books:

I love a bad boy with emotional turmoil and a secretive past. Joan Swan gives her hero, Rio, a boat-load of secrets, a vulnerable side, a snarky side, and who is a dirty boy who knows how to curl your toes.

Swan isn't afraid to write a heroine worthy of our bad boy hero either. Cassie Christo has returned to Mexico to find out answers and refuses to leave--regardless of the dangers that surround her.
She has her own secrets that she's hiding, and a horrific past that at times leaves her vulnerable and somewhat fragile. But she also has a wicked strength and loyalty to those she loves and isn't afraid to fight for what she believe in.

Joan Swan writes such well developed characters--with strengths, with weaknesses--that make them real and believable. Her worlds are always well researched and beautifully written to place the reader in the middle of the action.

If you are a fan of romantic suspense with heart-pounding emotion, edge-of-your-seat action, and smexy times that leave you breathless, I highly recommend this author. She does it so well while leaving you wanting more.

  1. Great review C.S. :) I think I need a dose of Mr. Rio hehe. I love reading books with characters that are well developed, sometimes some books just lack that one thing that makes a character great. The storyline sounds promising. Adding this one to my TBR list. Thanks :)
