What makes a hero hot?

For me, as a reader, I love my heroes a little on the dark side. I tend to fall for men who have been wounded--physically or emotionally.  Think Acheron from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters. This hero has been tortured, beaten, humiliated, and betrayed by the one who held his fragile heart in her cruel hands (That Artemis heifer bitch would taste good with some hot sauce, right, Simi?)

He is a great example of the hero that makes me weak in the knees. I just wanna hold him, stroke his ever changing beautiful locks, and gaze into his silver eyes for just a few decades. It's NOT the things that have been done to him that make him sexy--rather his love for mankind and his fierce drive to protect the innocent, his belief in the goodness of the human race, and that gentle side that we get glimpses of now and again that make him such a potent hero. And did I mention he plays the guitar and sings Nickleback and Godsmack cover songs?

So what makes a hero hot to you? Do share below in the comments-I'd love to here all the smexy details.

~ And now for my giveaway ~

Title:  Angel of Darkness (The Fallen, Book One)
Author:  Cynthia Eden

As an angel of death, Keenan’s job is to collect the souls on his list. He’s carried out his duty for two thousand years and never faltered once. Until he meets Nicole St. James. When the moment of death comes, Keenan hesitates, and instead of taking Nicole, Keenan touches the vampire who’s attacking her.
Cast out of heaven for disobedience, Keenan plummets to earth. Six months later, he finally manages to track Nicole to a bar in Mexico. He’s stunned to discover that the woman he remembers has undergone a dramatic change—she’s become a vampire. And when he realizes that she’s the target of all manner of enemies—other vampires, demons, even shifters—he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her, even if all hell breaks loose...

  10. A hero is hot when he's got that tender heart on the inside (the one where it's completely obvious to everyone but him that he's in love and wants to be loved in return) but on the outside he's Alpha and strong, kind of a bad ass attitude sort-of look. :)

I'd have to say one of my favorite heroes is Zane Cutter from Undertow by Cherry Adair. :)

  16. C.S. ~ you know how I like my hero ... tall, dark, handsome and preferably wearing a military uniform ... being a Navy SEAL makes it even better. I love Irving (Izzy) Zanella from Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter Series. He is sometimes a jerk, most of the time funny but all of the a man you can count on to be there when you need him most. 20. Woohoo! Loving this hop! All those HOT sexy hero's to drool over!
A hero is HOT when he’s an alpha; (shifter, human, or vamp) tall, handsome, sexy, with a sense of humor, loyal, and a BAD ASS! He doesn’t want anyone to know that he is soft on the inside, especially for his woman.

My favorite hero is hands down… Bo Novikov from Shelly Laurenston’s “Beast Behaving Badly” He is a handsome, sexy, surly, and mean hockey playing hybrid shifter, and everyone hates him, except his woman.
