The prophecies were there but no one listened. Until now. They are the Lords of Deliverance and they have the power to ward off Doomsday . . . or let it ride.
Jillian Cardiff came to this remote mountain town to forget the demon attack that almost killed her. Instead, she rescues - and falls for - a gorgeous stranger who has no memory of anything other than his name. Handsome, charming and protective, Reseph seems like the kind of man that Jillian can trust. But with hints of a troubling history of his own, he's also the kind of man that can be very dangerous . . .
Reseph may not know his background, or why he mysteriously appeared in Jillian's life, but he knows he wants to stay. Yet when Jillian's neighbours are killed and demon hunters arrive on the scene, Reseph fears that he's putting Jillian in danger. And once it's revealed that Reseph is also Pestilence, the Horseman responsible for ravaging the world with death and destruction, he and Jillian must face the greatest challenge of all: can they forget the horrors of a chilling past to save the future they both desire? The much anticipated book, Rogue Rider, is the last book of Larissa Ione's Lords of Deliverance series. I am sad to see the end of such a great story.
Since the beginning of this series, I have wondered just how Larissa would redeem Reseph in the eyes of the reader. And I applaud her being able to not only do that, but do it well.
Reseph was the first of the Horsemen to have his Seal broken--thus starting the beginning of the Apocalypse. His evil side, Pestilence, has been wrecking havoc around the globe. He is evil. He has murdered thousands. He has no conscience. He is irredeemable...or is he?
At one time, his brother, Than, thought that he was worthy to save. But now, the situation seems hopeless. In the last book, Pestilence was stabbed and thought to be dead...suffering in hell as he so rightly deserved. But the angel Reaver has stepped in and Reseph is now trapped in the bowels of Sheoul, aka--HELL.
When Pestilence was killed, Reseph was left in his place and the memories of what he has done drive him mad. He cannot overcome the horrors of Pestilence's evil deeds.
When Reaver returns Reseph back to earth, he has no memories...and he's found lying butt nekked in the snow by our heroine--Jillian Cardiff.
Jillian lives alone in the mountains after being brutally attacked by demons during their reign of terror on earth. But when she finds the handsome naked man in a snowdrift, she rescues him and takes him to her small cabin.
Evil, however, does not rest--and the search is on to find Reseph. There are those who want Pestilence to rise again and finish off what he has started.
There are a LOT of twists and on-the-edge-of-your-seat moments in Rogue Rider. And I see so much potential for more stories here--especially when things about Harvester and Reaver are finally revealed. Whoa, Mama!
Larissa has a gift--she can craft a story like nobody's biz. Her world building in this series is epic and so thoroughly addictive. She combines just the right amount of heart pounding action, quick-witted dialogue and lip-smacking sexy heroes that make my knees knock.
My only disappointment is that I wish I could have seen more of the humorous side of Reseph that we got to see through Than's eyes in previous books...but I really understood the need for a more serious approach as Reseph comes to terms with what he has done and he struggles to rise above it.
