I will admit to loving my story with a little meat on the bone--one that you can really sink yourself into and be lost for days before resurfacing.

But I was pleasantly surprised with The Navy SEAL's Promise by Soraya Lane. It is only a little over seventy pages and Lane puts enough in the story that you don't feel cheated.

Saskia is on a commercial flight, on her way home to see her son in quick trip for Christmas. She wakes up embarrassed to see that she has fallen asleep on one gorgeous hunk of man--Luke Gray. Despite their unique meeting, the two strangers link together when all further flights out of JFK are grounded due to snow. There is no denying the attraction between the two strangers, who have more in common than they first realize. Both are from military backgrounds and both are lonely.

But Luke has promised that he will bring Saskia home so she can see her son and it is one promise he is determined to keep.

Lane gives a little bit of spice in this tender love story -- enough to fog all the windows in a "kidnapped" military Humvee.

"Do you have any idea how beautiful you look lying there?"
Luke's deep whisper was enough to make her relax. She might not agree with him, but the way he was looking at her did make her feel beautiful. The hunger in his gaze, the sin written all over his body, made her decide to toss away her inhibitions and just let this happen. When else would she ever be trapped with a hot SEAL with nothing to do other than let him pleasure her?

This is a great, simple, pleasure-filled holiday tale that will slide down as easily as a cup of hot cocoa and gooey marshmallows floating on top. And warm you from the inside out.
