Opposites do more than just attract in Toni Aleo’s latest Nashville Assassins novel about a very bad boy and the good girl he can’t resist.

The instant Piper Allen sees Erik Titov, she wants him—wants his rock-hard body, sure, but the strength and mystery that lies behind that superstar hockey jock demeanor, too. So when he sidles up to her at a bar and slinks his arm around her waist, she’s lost. What follows is the wildest night of her life . . . followed by inevitable heartbreak the next morning. And then, a few weeks later, a very big surprise: two blue lines on a pregnancy test.

Only a check to the head could make Erik fall for a nice girl like Piper. But since their crazy-sexy night together, he’s been trying to forget about her alluring body by falling into bed with every woman in Nashville, and it’s not working. So when Piper shows up at his house with a baby-bomb to drop, it doesn't take much for Erik to suggest the nuclear option: marriage. While it’s supposed to be all for show, the second they say “I do,” the ice between them starts to melt into sizzling steam.

Toni Aleo is the author of the Nashville Assassins series: Taking Shots, Trying to Score, Empty Net, and Blue Lines. When not rooting for her beloved Nashville Predators, she’s probably going to her husband’s and son’s hockey games and her daughter’s dance competitions, taking pictures, scrapbooking, or reading the latest romance novel. Book Review

I must say that at the beginning of this book, I didn't know what to think about Aleo's Erik.  He was rude, crude, and totally unattractive to me. I didn't like him. And I didn't know how author, Toni Aleo, would persuade me to the dark side, lol.

But that's what a talented author can do--persuade your emotions and make you feel one way, only to go, "Whoa, wait a minute, I think I like him."

As a character, Erik Titov is a man-whore. He loves women and he prefers to "sex" them up and leave before the sheets get cold. But he has always had a difficult time staying away from one woman--Piper Allen. She is intriguing as hell, sexy, and comes across as sweetly innocent. She is also his sister-in-law. And getting involved with her could create a very sticky situation.

But when Erik spots Piper in a bar one night, he can't help himself. And when Piper reciprocates his overtures, Erik is fucked. Literally and figuratively.

What follows is a sinfully hot and sexy one night stand that scares the hell out of Erik. He admits things to her that he has never breathed to another living soul. He has to end things--and he abruptly does--before Piper can see just how vulnerable he is to her.

Piper has had a crush on her brother-in-law for quite some time. She is able to see pass all the bullshit Erik uses to hide behind. And she has fallen for that man, the one who she knows he truly is but refuses to let shine.

After their night together, Piper is stunned at how Erik handles their break-up. She hoped that after opening up to her he would continue to want to be with her. But she is left alone...and pregnant.

After countless returned calls, Piper faces the bitter truth: she will be a single mother to Erik's child.  But six months into her pregnancy, she confronts Erik and finally tells him the truth.

This is the part that really got to me. Seriously, Erik was the biggest douche on the planet with how he handled being told about his impending fatherhood. Total.Asshat.

But the story takes off as Piper and Erik are forced together in order for Erik to remain in good standing with the Assassins.  Piper fights Erik every step of the way and shows him that he is nothing like his real father.

The positive aspect of this story for me was that Erik's change of heart wasn't this swiftly moving thing. It takes time and a lot of "OMG, you ass!" moments, before Erik comes around.

Almost to the point where it may be too late.

Toni Aleo has a great series going on here and I want to read more of her Assassin players in the future.
