GUEST BLOG ~ STACY GAIL--NOBODY'S ANGEL -- GIVEAWAY

C.S. Maxwell ~ Where's My Muse would like to welcome author, Stacy Gail, as today's Guest Blogger! And be sure to enter the giveaway--details at the end of the post.

Cold?  Let’s Turn Up The Heat, Nephilim-Style!

First, I’d like to thank C.S. Maxwell for allowing me to stop by Where’s My Muse and chat about NOBODY’S ANGEL, my latest release from Carina Press, and the first book in The Earth Angels paranormal romance series!

So, are you tired of Jack Frost getting all touchy-feely with your nose (and other body parts)?  Are the winter blues making everything, even (LOL) cats, seem blah?  Does it not suck that weeks of snow-shoveling, mismatched gloves and chapped lips separate you from days of soaking up the rays at the beach?  Well, have no fear, my super-powered, masked hero, Zeke Reece is here!  There are many talents this muscle-sculpted male can call upon, and wooing you out of the winter doldrums and warming your cockles (whatever those may be) is one of them.

But first allow me to properly introduce the man who wants nothing more than to crank your inner thermostat.  Zeke, a member of a nearly extinct angel-human hybrid race known as the Nephilim, keeps his head down and San Francisco clear of spiritual problems.  Why?  Thousands of years ago the Nephilim were all but exterminated; his ancestor, an angel of death, was one of the few who survived.  Zeke, a guy who loves coffee and likes eating Junior Mints out of the palms of pretty ladies, feels he’s more human than anything, but his wacky angelic DNA doesn’t lie.  With black wings, inhumanly fast speed and the ability to pass spirits from this world to the next, there’s no denying he’s so much more than human.  There’s also no denying that his corner of the world might get some unwanted heavenly attention now that a malevolent spirit is stalking his city’s streets.  Worse yet, the phantasm’s vicious focus falls on the ever-luscious Kendall Glynn.

With the introduction of Kendall, it’s inevitable that things begin to heat up.

Though it rarely freezes in the city by the bay, that fog is damp and chilly enough to make any woman shake.  And when you’re being hunted by a murderous rogue spirit you can’t even see, that can really send a shiver up the spine.  Kendall is almost frozen with fear until a masked stranger saves her time and again, enclosing her in both his lonely, shadowed darkness and the rough comfort of his hard arms.  Body heat is the most surefire way to elevate the temperature, and Zeke’s kisses are more than enough to chase any chill away.

But when Zeke flies Kendall to his secret lair to keep her out of the reach of the evil that’s targeting her, their isolation sparks a sensual fire that’s been smoldering just beneath the surface.  With that fire comes the warm glow of a deepening belief in each other, and that unwavering belief makes it possible for them to at last dig out the dark heart of what’s hiding behind the malevolent spirit.  For Zeke and Kendall, it all comes down to a matter of teamwork, something that can never be fully accomplished without absolute trust, and a devotion to keep the one you love safe.

NOBODY’S ANGEL is what the doctor ordered to chase away the winter chills. Now, the only question is…Do you prefer Zeke with the mask, out no?

BLURB:

Book one in The Earth Angels

Investigative journalist Kendall Glynn is horrified when a friend and colleague signs off permanently during a live newscast, jabbing a pen into his jugular. Kendall's no expert, but judging by the strange white veil in the anchorman's eyes, she would swear he was a man possessed.

A descendant of the accursed Nephilim, Zeke Reece prowls San Francisco by night, keeping the city free from paranormal phenomena. But even he is no match for whatever malevolent force is behind a recent rash of murder-suicides. And when a beautiful tenacious reporter becomes the next target, Zeke has no choice but to stay close to her, until he can find the evil spirit and cross it over.

The closer Kendall gets to the truth, the more danger she's in. Fortunately, a sexy and mysterious masked stranger keeps swooping in to the rescue. Kendall's life depends on finding who or what is responsible for the killings, before it finds her.

Excerpt:

“I can’t believe it…”

“There was so much blood.”

“What happened?”

Fragments of conversation hit Kendall Glynn from all sides, but the words were no more than an irrelevant buzzing in her brain. She was just as oblivious to the emergency vehicles scattered outside San Francisco’s top-rated KPOW TV station. Some of her colleagues were crying, while others spoke to police. The sea of people behind the yellow crime-scene tape all looked the same—eager spectators hoping for a glimpse of more blood, more madness.

She’d had enough of both to last a lifetime.

“Miss? Have you been treated?”

Kendall’s zombie-like shuffling halted at the deep melodic voice close to her, and she turned to discover an EMT had appeared at her side. For a long moment she stared at him while his words slipped across the frozen surface of her mind without leaving a mark.

“I’m not hurt.” Her voice came from far off, unrecognizable and rough around the edges. Which made sense. The last time she’d used it had been to scream.

And scream.

And scream.

“You might not be hurt, but you are in shock.” Somehow she was moving again, heading for the back of an empty ambulance. It wasn’t until he helped her into it that she realized he’d pulled her along like a lost two-year-old. “I’m going to check you out, okay?”

“This blood, it’s not mine.” Amazing, how calm she sounded.

  3. A mask could help him hide his identity, so for security reasons Zeke might want to wear one :)
