What is New Adult?
New Adult is a recent category of fiction for young adults. Books in the New Adult category are marketed to both YA readers and adult readers. Intended to appeal to readers aged 14 through 35, new adult books deal with themes deemed too racy for YA set but with YA's familiar tropes and narrative arcs.
Protagonists in new adult stories usually range from the ages of late teens to early twenties (18-25). This is typically the time young adults have just graduated high school, going off to college, moving away from home for the first time, or going off into the adult world.
