BOOK REVIEW ~ KING COBRA BY JAYNE RYLON

Title: King Cobra ( Hot Rods, Book One)
Novella
Author: Jayne Rylon
Release Date: April 16, 2013

Reviewer purchased own ebook for review

After Eli’s mother died, his father honored her life’s mission as a social worker by taking in several kids from the wrong side of the tracks. Not all of them stuck, but those who did became Eli’s quasi family.

Their bonds, forged in fires set by their personal demons, are unbreakable—or so Eli wants to believe. Especially since he and Alanso, his best friend and head mechanic, witnessed the overpowering allure of polyamory while visiting the Powertools crew.

Much as Eli would like to deepen the relationships among his foster brothers and sister in the Hot Rods Restoration Team, he’s hesitant to risk everything on a quick romp behind a stack of tires.

But when Eli catches Alanso exploring their mutual fantasy at a known hookup spot in a public park, all bets are off. And Eli must decide if it’s time to jump in full throttle—and trust his instincts to guide him through the night. If the pair of mechanics can dodge the potholes in their own relationship, maybe they can race together toward the unconventional arrangement with Mustang Sally they both desire.

Warning: Fasten your seatbelts, this is going to be a wild (and naughty) ride!

Book Review

Jayne's books are not for the faint of heart--they ooze such highly charged erotic scenes to literally melt your eyeballs.

I was a fan of her Powertools Series which contained sizzling sex, as well as an emotional punch to the solar plexus. Her heroes are drool worthy, loyal, and sweet for the women in their lives.

And it looks like Jayne will be spinning another sensual series with the Hot Rods.

Eli and Alanso pay a visit to Joe ( a character from the Powertools series--and cousin to Eli) and are shocked at the poly-amorous relationship that the crew have with their wives. This highly unusual relationship works for them and the love between them is evident.

But watching a sensual scene between some of the crew,  leaves Eli wondering if such a relationship can exist between the men and one woman that work at his garage.

Eli has felt a stirring of sexual attraction for the sexy Cuban, Alanso, but the others of their elite group are like brothers and a sister to him. Can he risk starting something between all of them and risk losing them all?

Despite Eli's sexual frustration he refuses to act on his desires. That is, until Alanso throws down with others and Eli is left watching.

Holy. Shit. Cakes. Erotic doesn't begin to cover the steamy scenes in this novella. But let's not leave out the closeness between these people. It's not a free-for-all of open sexy times without any emotions.

Eli, Alanso, and the others have grown up together and have been close almost their whole lives. They have stood by each other, working side by side and the bonds of friendship and love for one another is strong.

But when Eli and Alanso finally come together in one night of passion, someone will get hurt and run away--leaving Eli and Alanso determined to get their woman back.  By their side, in their bed. Where she rightfully belongs.

To.Be.Continued.

ACK!

Mustang Sally will be released June 4, 2013.

JAYNE RYLON BLOG TOUR ~ INTERVIEW WITH JAYNE RYLON AND GIVEAWAY

Welcome Jayne!

Interview with Jayne Rylon

1. Describe a typical writing day for you. Do you plot out your stories or are you a pantser?

These days my typical day is a lot different than it used to be.  I’m finally a full time author!

Previously I was used to squeezing writing into the evenings and weekends along with all the business of writing tasks that also had to be completed (like edits, web site updates, social media, promotion, conference preparation, contract reviews, royalty tracking and forecasting, etc.).  Now…it’s like I live in a world of perpetual Saturdays.  I can hardly believe it’s real.

At the time of writing this, I’m only on Friday of my first week as a full time author so it’s sort of surreal.  My intentions from here on out are to wake up at my usual time with my husband around 5:30, have some breakfast, check email etc. and hit the gym for the early class.  After that I’ll write until lunch, do some laundry, dishes or whatever else might need to be done around the house (which I haven’t had to do in five years as Mr. Rylon has taken care of everything while I’ve worked two jobs!).  Then back to writing until it’s time to make dinner.  In the evenings I plan to tackle the non-writing stuff while hanging out on the couch with Mr. Rylon.  And most of all, I’ll go to bed at a reasonable time instead of sneaking to bed at 3am like I used to do in the days of two careers.

It sounds so perfect I can’t believe it’s real!!!  I’m sure not everything will go according to my grand plan but I’m looking forward to this new chapter in my life.

2. What author do you love to read when you are not writing?

One of the things I missed most when I was working two jobs was reading!  I’m an avid reader, always have been.

Some of my favorite authors are Suzanne Brockmann, Elizabeth Lowell, Cherry Adair, Lora Leigh, Jaci Burton, Cindy Gerard, Sandra Brown, Sylvia Day, Maya Banks, and of course I read a lot of books by other authors I meet in my travels to conferences or online.

Most recently I read Under His Skin by Sidney Bristol and really enjoyed it!  I can’t wait to start digging in to my enormous To Be Read pile here shortly!

3. What is your favorite kind of hero? One that is described as clean-cut, sharp-dresser, and would be featured on G-Q or one that is described as dark, damaged and you'd find on the back of a Harley?

Of course I prefer the bad boy, doesn’t everyone?  Actually, it’s funny because I recently wrote a book called Pick Your Pleasure where the reader gets to choose what happens in the book including which of the two heroes the heroine ends up with.

Chase is the GQ type and Ryder more of the rebel.  I wrote the Ryder paths first but ended up kind of falling in love more with Chase in the end.

So sometimes you don’t know what you’re going to like until you see it I guess!  I will read just about anything and if the story is good those characters will be my favorite until the next book I really love.

4. Describe the hero in Hot Rods and what you think will make him sexy to your readers.

Well, there are lots of heroes in the Hot Rods series.  Seven guys plus the Powertools crew make a lot of appearances too.

But in the first book of the series the focus is on Eli, King Cobra, and Alanso, who is his right hand man.

Readers may have already met the pair if they read the Powertools series as they were introduced in Nailed to the Wall and Hammer it Home.

Eli is sexy because he’s the leader of the gang, he’s the person they look to in order to keep things in line.  He’s had the most normal childhood of all the Hot Rods, thanks to his dad Tom who is in the series too. His mother died when he was young but he’s strong and knows the value of love.

Alanso is sexy too.  He’s more vulnerable, since he believes his mother abandoned him when he was younger and she was deported back to Cuba.  But he’s stronger in some ways too and is really the driving force behind the Hot Rods beginning to explore the latent bond between them.

All the guys are rough, down to earth, heavily tattooed and kind of bad ass.  They are mechanics but smart about their restoration business and work well together.

5. You write a lot about poly-relationships. What kind of woman do you think it takes to "handle" that kind of relationship?

That’s a good question.  I think all my heroines have certain things in common.

First, obviously, they’re open minded and forward thinking, willing to let love happen to them in any shape it takes instead of sticking with preconceived ideals.

They have to be strong to stand up to what outsiders might think and to deal with not one but two (or more) usually stubborn men.

I think there’s an element of flexibility too.  And not just the physical kind. Usually the men rely on her to glue them together.

The heroine has to be able to emotionally fill in the gaps the guys leave behind and kind of act as the grease between their gears to keep things from jamming up.  Mustang Sally has a lot on her plate at the beginning of the Hot Rods series!

Oh, yes indeedy. And I can't wait. Thank you soooo much, Jayne, for letting me ask you a few questions.

Nothing’s sexier than seven men with hot rods.
